The University of Southern California has announced a unique 'family graduate celebration' following the cancellation of its main stage graduation ceremony. The decision to cancel the main stage commencement was made in response to new safety measures implemented after anti-Israel protests on the Los Angeles campus. Originally anticipated to host approximately 65,000 attendees, the main stage event was called off.
The alternative 'family graduate celebration' is set to take place at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, located near the campus. The university encourages graduates to bring their families and loved ones to commemorate their achievements in a grand manner and unite as a Trojan Family. The event promises a range of attractions, including drone shows, fireworks, surprise performances, the renowned Trojan Marching Band, and a special gift exclusively for the Class of 2024.
While the main stage commencement has been replaced, individual school commencement ceremonies, doctoral hooding ceremonies, and various other celebrations and activities are still scheduled to occur between May 8-11. This adjustment aims to provide graduates with a memorable and meaningful experience despite the changes in the original graduation plans.
