USA boss Gregg Berhalter makes big call on Leeds United's Brenden Aaronson ahead of England clash

Leeds United midfielder Brenden Aaronson has been named on the bench for the USA's World Cup group stage game against England this evening. Aaronson came on off the bench against Wales in the USA's World Cup opener, which they drew 1-1.

But despite his energetic substitute display, the 22-year-old has been once again named on the bench by Gregg Berhalter in what could be a crucial game for their chances of qualifying from the group stages.

Earlier today, Wales lost 2-0 to Iran, who the USA play in their final group stage game. If the USA can pick up a result against England, then a win over Iran would send them through to the last 16 of the World Cup.

While Aaronson is named on the bench, his Leeds team mate Tyler Adams has again been handed a start in midfield by Berhalter.

Adams, who was named the USA's captain ahead of the World Cup, is one of four Premier League players named in Berhalter's starting line-up, with Arsenal's Matt Turner, Chelsea's Christian Pulisic and Fulham pair Tim Ream and Antonee Robinson also selected.

USA Starting XI to face England (4-3-3): Matt Turner; Sergiño Dest, Walker Zimmerman, Tim Ream, Antonee Robinson; Yunus Musah, Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie; Christian Pulisic, Timothy Weah, Haji Wright

Substitutes: Ethan Horvath, Sean Johnson, Gio Reyna, Jesús Ferreira, Brenden Aaronson, Luca de la Torre, Aaron Long, Jordan Morris, Cristian Roldan, Shaq Moore, Cameron Carter-Vickers, DeAndre Yedlin, Kellyn Acosta, Josh Sargent, Joe Scally
