The United States secured a silver medal in the skeet shooting mixed team final during the Paris Olympics. The American duo of Austen Jewell Smith and Vincent Hancock faced tough competition from Italy's Diana Bacosi and Gabriele Rossetti, ultimately losing by a narrow margin of 45-44. The pivotal moment came in the fourth round of targets, where the Americans faltered, leading to their defeat.

This marked the second medal for both Smith and Hancock in these Olympics. Smith had previously clinched a bronze medal in women's skeet shooting, while Hancock added to his impressive tally by winning his fourth Olympic gold in men's skeet shooting. Notably, this was Hancock's first medal in a men's team event, showcasing his versatility and skill in the sport.

On the other hand, Bacosi and Rosetti of Italy secured their second gold medals of their careers. Both athletes had previously won gold in the individual skeet shooting events at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. The victory in the mixed team final added another milestone to their achievements, as neither had previously won team medals in their Olympic careers.
