The US Department of Defense has announced that it will be sending Ukraine additional military equipment as part of a $275 million funding allocation. This decision comes as a result of a surge in military assistance directed by President Joe Biden in late September.
According to the Department of Defense, this latest allocation marks the seventieth tranche of equipment provided to Ukraine from US military supplies since August 2021. The package of military equipment includes a variety of items aimed at bolstering Ukraine's defense capabilities.
Some of the key items in the package include ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), artillery ammunition, mortar rounds, unmanned aerial systems (drones), Tube-launched, Optically tracked, Wire-guided (TOW) missiles, anti-armor systems, small arms and ammunition, demolitions equipment and munitions, as well as chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear protective equipment.
In addition to the equipment mentioned, the package also includes spare parts, ancillary equipment, services, training, and transportation support. This comprehensive support package underscores the ongoing commitment of the United States to assist Ukraine in enhancing its defense capabilities.
