US Strikes Successful In Syria, Uncertainty Over Leadership

White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby stated that preliminary reports suggest that US strikes against ISIS targets in Syria were successful. The spokesperson mentioned that it is uncertain who is currently in charge of Syria following the collapse of Bashar al-Assad's regime over the weekend.

Kirby indicated that the US believes the strikes effectively targeted legitimate ISIS sites, weakening their capabilities. He also mentioned that the decision to continue these strikes is still under consideration.
