The US Open has found itself at the centre of an unexpected influencer controversy after content creators were seen taking photographs using bright ring lights during Naomi Osaka's first-round match.

The unusual scene unfolded at Arthur Ashe Stadium during Osaka's match against Anastasia Zakharova on 31 August. As the players battled through the second set, spectators in a hospitality suite behind the chair umpire were reportedly seen moving around and using artificial lighting while taking photographs.
