US Open: Fire alarm halts play briefly with Hawkeye affected

Play was temporarily halted during the fourth-round matches at the US Open on Tuesday due to a fire alarm in the building that houses the technical booth responsible for operating Hawkeye, the electronic line calling system used exclusively at the tournament instead of line judges.

The incident occurred during the match between Daniil Medvedev and Nuno Borges at Arthur Ashe Stadium, with Medvedev leading 6-0, 6-1, 1-2. The chair umpire abruptly stopped play and called both players to approach him, explaining the situation before they took their seats and waited.

Similarly, the women's match between Caroline Wozniacki and Beatriz Haddad Maia at Louis Armstrong Stadium was also interrupted for approximately six minutes before the players were able to resume their contest.

Television cameras captured officials exiting the video replay room following the stoppage of play.
