Homicide rates across 30 major American cities have seen an 18% decrease this year compared to the same period in 2025, translating to approximately 215 fewer killings, according to a new report from the independent Council on Criminal Justice.
Should this positive trend continue, the nation could see its annual homicide rate fall to the lowest levels in over a century once final figures are compiled at year-end.
