US Not Planning Independent Investigation Into Israeli Strike In Gaza

Israel strikes Gaza

National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby stated on Friday that the United States currently has no plans to conduct an independent investigation into the Israeli strike that resulted in the deaths of seven aid workers from World Central Kitchen in Gaza.

This announcement came following a clarification from the White House regarding Secretary of State Antony Blinken's earlier remarks. Blinken had initially called for an 'independent, thorough, and fully publicized investigation' into the strike, but the White House later explained that he was referring to the Israeli report on the incident that had been released.

Kirby informed reporters that Blinken's mention of an independent investigation was made before the Israeli report was made public. He emphasized that the US is currently examining the report released by Israel and reviewing it carefully.

Blinken's call for investigation was before Israeli report was released.

Before departing Belgium, Blinken acknowledged that Israel has taken responsibility for the incident and appears to be taking steps to hold those responsible accountable. He highlighted the importance of Israel's actions in response to the strike.

Meanwhile, World Central Kitchen has called for additional independent investigations into the strike, expressing concerns that Israel may not be impartial in investigating its own actions in Gaza.
