US military plane crashes in Iraq as Middle East tensions continue

  • US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the incident, stating it was not due to hostile or friendly fire. A second US aircraft involved in the incident was damaged but landed safely.

  • The crash occurred amidst heightened tensions between the US and Iran.
  • Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned it would set the region's oil and gas infrastructure 'on fire' if its energy facilities were attacked.
