US Military Conducts Strikes On Houthi Rebels In Yemen

RAF strike further Houthi targets in Yemen

The US military conducted strikes on 15 targets belonging to the Houthi rebels in Yemen on Friday. The attack aimed to protect freedom of navigation in the Red Sea following weeks of Houthi attacks on ships bound for Israel. The strikes targeted the group's military capabilities.

The Iran-backed Houthis accused the US and UK of carrying out airstrikes in four cities across Yemen. Seven of the strikes reportedly hit the Hodeidah Airport and the Katheeb area in Hodeidah, as per the Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV.

The British defense ministry clarified that the UK was not involved in the strikes on Yemen. Israel's military also stated that it was not aware of the strikes.

Footage geolocated showed billowing grey smoke in northern Hodeidah, a Houthi-controlled port city in western Yemen. The video captured from a vantage point along the Red Sea.

The Houthis, considered an Iranian proxy group aligned against Israel, have intensified clashes with Israel and its allies. The attacks on vessels in the Red Sea were claimed to be in solidarity with the Palestinians, following Hamas' October 7 attacks and the subsequent Israeli military offensive in Gaza.

Israel's escalating conflict with Hezbollah has raised concerns about a broader regional war involving Iran and various militant groups. The situation remains tense as the dynamics between the involved parties continue to evolve.
