This photograph provided by the Indian Navy shows U.S.-owned ship Genco Picardy that came under attack Wednesday from a bomb-carrying drone launched by Yemen's Houthi rebels in the Gulf of Aden

On Wednesday, US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that US forces successfully intercepted Houthi weapons launched from Yemen towards a warship in the Red Sea. The incident involved the USS Gravely, a guided missile destroyer, and CENTCOM forces.

The interception operation resulted in the destruction of an anti-ship ballistic missile and two drones that were launched by the Houthi group. Fortunately, there were no injuries or damage reported on the USS Gravely as a result of the intercepted weapons.

Simultaneously, US forces also targeted a mobile surface-to-air missile system located in Houthi-controlled territory. The successful destruction of this missile system further demonstrates the US military's commitment to safeguarding its assets and personnel in the region.

The interception of Houthi weapons highlights the ongoing tensions in the region and the threat posed by the Houthi group's military capabilities. The US military remains vigilant in monitoring and responding to potential threats to ensure the safety and security of its forces and allies.

CENTCOM's swift and effective response to the Houthi weapons launch underscores the importance of maintaining a strong defensive posture in the region. The US continues to work closely with regional partners to address security challenges and maintain stability in the Red Sea area.
