A US F-16 crashed at Spangdahlem Air Base in western Germany at about 2.30pm local time on Tuesday, the 52nd Fighter Wing said. The pilot ejected safely and was taken for medical care, while no one on the ground was reported injured.

Four F-16s from Spangdahlem took part in a routine training flight. Following the crash, the other three aircraft diverted to Ramstein Air Base and landed safely, according to officials. Emergency crews were sent to the scene as an investigation began.
