US envoy says he is concerned about Israeli strikes on Abu al-Duhur airbase

  • Syrian state TV reported eight strikes targeting the airbase runway in Idlib province, which caused material damage but no casualties.
  • The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights noted that Turkey had been rehabilitating the long-disused airbase following the collapse of Bashar Assad's regime in December 2024.
  • Tensions between Israel and Turkey have heightened since Assad's fall, prompting Israel to launch hundreds of strikes to neutralise Syrian military assets.
  • Although the new authorities in Damascus maintain they do not seek conflict with Israel, Israeli officials remain wary of the former insurgent-led government.
