US Condemns Israeli Strike On World Central Kitchen Convoy

Humanitarian aid leaves from the United States to Gaza

The United States State Department has expressed strong disapproval of the recent Israeli strike on a World Central Kitchen convoy, labeling it as 'unacceptable' regardless of the circumstances. The strike resulted in the tragic deaths of seven aid workers who were on a mission to deliver humanitarian assistance.

Spokesperson Matthew Miller from the State Department highlighted that the Israel Defense Forces claimed the strike was a result of 'misidentification,' indicating that they did not intend to target the World Central Kitchen vehicles. However, Miller emphasized that the reason behind the mistake is irrelevant in the face of the devastating outcome.

Miller stressed the importance of a thorough investigation to determine the exact events leading to the tragedy. He urged the Israeli authorities to take immediate action to enhance deconfliction and coordination measures to prevent similar incidents in the future and ensure the safety of humanitarian workers and civilians.

Despite the unfortunate incident, the US remains committed to its humanitarian efforts in Gaza. Plans to construct a pier for aid delivery are progressing, with the Pentagon actively involved in the initiative. The focus now shifts to the efficient distribution of aid within Gaza, whether by land or sea, once it reaches the region.
