Following the altercation, Mace reported the incident to Capitol Police, who swiftly responded and apprehended the suspect. The individual, identified as James McIntyre, 33, from Illinois, was charged with assaulting a government official. McIntyre pleaded not guilty to one misdemeanor charge of simple assault in DC Superior Court.
