Blinken, speaking in Qatar after meetings in Israel, highlighted the need to prevent an endless cycle of escalation in the region.
While addressing the Iranian ballistic missile attack in early October, Blinken refrained from commenting on Israel's planned response. Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have reportedly assured the US that any counterstrike on Iran would be limited to military targets rather than critical infrastructure.
