Washington: The U.S. aviation regulator on Tuesday proposed new rules to speed up approval of commercial space missions like SpaceX's rocket and satellite launches by no longer requiring them to follow provisions of 13 environmental and other laws.
The Federal Aviation Administration on Tuesday said its proposed rule would allow the agency to waive requirements under laws including the National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act and Clean Air Act in a bid "to simplify and expedite commercial space licensing."
