People in Scotland planning to make a new application, or need to upload supporting evidence for Adult or Child Disability Payments, over the weekend may have to wait until Monday due to planned IT downtime from Social Security Scotland. The devolved welfare department said “essential maintenance” will be carried out from the afternoon on Friday, June 2 until midnight on Sunday, June 4.
Social Security Scotland will be offering a reduced online service as a result and people are being advised to upload supporting information “before or after this period” - or submit it by post. However, full online service will be restored from Monday, June 5.
People should also be aware they will be unable to apply for Adult Disability Payment or Child Disability Payment from 2pm on Friday (June 2) until midnight on Sunday (June 4). The document upload service will also be unavailable from 6pm on June 2 to midnight on June 4 for all benefits.
Social Security Scotland said: “As part of essential maintenance of our IT systems, parts of our online applications and document upload service will be unavailable from 2 June to 4 June. This means that we will be offering a reduced service for some of our clients.
“Online applications for our disability payments will be unavailable from 2pm on Friday 2 June until midnight on Sunday 4 June.”
Applications for the following benefits will be unavailable online from 6pm on Friday until midnight on Sunday:
- Scottish Child Payment
- Best Start Grant
- Best Start Foods
- Funeral Support Payment
- Job Start Payment
During the system downtime, people will be given the option to fill out a PDF form that can be posted to Social Security Scotland instead, but they will be able to upload documents as normal from Monday, June 5.
