The Food Standards Agency has issued a warning over a Tesco Bran Flakes product because of undeclared milk and hazelnut.
The product, which is part of the supermarket's own-brand Free-From range, may contain a small amount of chocolate pillows that contain milk and hazelnut.
This makes the cereal a "possible health risk" as people with an allergy or intolerance to milk or hazelnut could unknowingly consume the product. Customers have been told that they can return the affected product to a Tesco store for a full refund, and no receipt is required.
The Food Standards Agency warning states: "Tesco is recalling Tesco Free From Bran Flakes because some packs may contain a small amount of another cereal variant (chocolate pillows) that contain milk and hazelnut (nuts) which are not mentioned on the label.
"This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents and/or an allergy to hazelnut (nuts)."
The warning specifically relates to the batch of 300g Free From Bran Flakes that has a best before date of 26 May 2024.
Tesco has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.
The big four supermarket has since issued a recall that states: "Please do not consume this product if you have an intolerance to milk and/or hazelnuts."
