Alexander is described as white, around 6ft 1, with receding hair and a large bushy beard. It was unknown what he is wearing but he is believed to have taken a rucksack with him, and what appeared to be a fishing rod.
Sergeant Greig McKail said: “Alexander has now not returned home for two nights and as time goes on we are becoming increasingly concerned for him.
“We have been speaking to those who know him and are appealing for anyone who may have spoken to Alexander to get in touch.
“He knows the Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch areas well – we would ask anyone in this area to think back. Have you seen a man that could have been Alexander?”
