Urgent recall notice issued for Dunnes Stores bread rolls that are unsafe for some

Dunnes Stores has recalled a batch of White Sub Rolls after it was discovered they were mispacked with Floury White Baps instead.

According to the Food Safety Authority of Ireland, the baps contain both milk and eggs - which is not mentioned on the sub roll packaging they are in.

This makes the bread rolls unsafe for customers who are intolerant or allergic to eggs or are lactose intolerance.

The notice published today read: "The implicated batch of Dunnes Stores White Sub Rolls was mispacked with Dunnes Stores Floury White Baps.

"The bap product contains milk and eggs which are not declared on the ingredients list.

"This may make the batch unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of milk or eggs."

The affected batch is labelled 'Dunnes Stores White Sub Rolls (4 Semolina Dusted White Sub Rolls)' with a pack size of 290g and the best before date of 17/07/2022.

Eating the baps will have no ill effects on consumers who are able to eat milk and eggs but can cause discomfort and illness in those who are intolerant or allergic.

An intolerance to eggs or milk is when people are unable to fully digest them. It usually causes those affected to experience uncomfortable symptoms such as bloating and diarrhea after eating eggs or milk.

For people with an egg or milk allergy, consuming those products can be a more serious life-threatening emergency, but in most cases it causes skin inflammation or hives.
