Urgent question on Downing Street parties being asked in Parliament today

The Government is to be faced with an urgent question on Downing Street parties and the police probe in Parliament today.

An urgent question on the status of the investigation into Downing Street parties will be asked in the House of Commons following the statement from the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police.

Labour Deputy Leader Angela Rayner will put the question to the PM at 12.30.

She will ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office if he will make a statement on the status of the investigation into Downing Street parties following the statement from the commissioner of the Met police.

Steve Barclay will then clarify how far along the investigation into Downing Street parties is, and whether the ongoing police investigation will delay it.

The Met Police today announced they have launched an investigation into whether any lockdown laws have been broken.

Sue Gray is expected to release a report into Downing Street parties within days.
