An urgent warning has been issued for anyone travelling to Formby beach.
The National Trust has issued a warning on its social media channels saying that both car parks are already full. The trust which runs the car parks at both Victoria Road and Lifeboat Road for visitors to the popular beach is now advising people to travel by train or by bike where possible to avoid queues and congestion in the area.
The two car parks will now be closed for the rest of the day, with those wanting to visit by car being discouraged to do so. The trust regularly has to shut the car parks when warm weather descends on the north Merseyside town as people flock to the beach and sand dunes to enjoy the lovely weather.
