No trains will be travelling from Leeds to London due to the heatwave on Tuesday, it has been confirmed.
LNER has told passengers to only travel if necessary on Monday but said no trains will run on Tuesday on routes south of York and south of Leeds to London King’s Cross.
This warning comes as a red weather warning for extreme heat has been issued for the first time in the UK.

This could see temperatures across the country reach over 35C. Leeds is set to be 38C on Tuesday.
Passengers whose journeys have been affected on Monday and Tuesday will be able to travel on Wednesday and Thursday this week as their tickets will remain valid.
However, they will also be able to get a full refund if you are no longer travelling, a statement on LNER’s website confirms.
In a statement published online, the company said: “HEATWAVE TRAVEL ADVICE
“Only travel if absolutely necessary on Monday 18 July, and on Tuesday 19 July do not travel on routes south of York and south of Leeds to London King’s Cross as no trains will run, this includes to or from Wakefield Westgate, Doncaster, Retford, Lincoln, Newark Northgate, Grantham, Peterborough and Stevenage.
“There will be limited trains to other destinations and it's highly likely that they will be subject to significant delays because speed restrictions will be in place.
“If you do have to travel please check your journey before you set off.”
