Google has urged all computer users to check the version of Chrome they are using. The alert has come as a bug has been discovered that could put personal data at risk.
Cyber issues are common but according to The Mirror, this one is particularly serious as it has been given a 'zero-day rating'. That means it is known by cyber criminals and is being exploited by them.
Google said in a statement: "Google is aware that an exploit for CVE-2023-3079 exists in the wild." Anyone who uses this browser now needs to check that they have updated to 114.0.5735.106 for Mac and Linux and 114.0.5735.110 for Windows.
Google has that it is rolling out this update now and should be available across the globe in the coming days. It's currently unclear exactly what the bug is capable of with Google keeping full details under wraps until the majority of Chrome users have made the switch to the update.

"Access to bug details and links may be kept restricted until a majority of users are updated with a fix. We will also retain restrictions if the bug exists in a third party library that other projects similarly depend on, but haven’t yet fixed," the tech giant added.
"We would also like to thank all security researchers that worked with us during the development cycle to prevent security bugs from ever reaching the stable channel," Google added."
