Upsetting reason Meghan Markle shut down The Tig for Prince Harry - and drastic U-turn

All that currently remains of The Tig is a heartbreaking message from Meghan Markle to her beloved fans.

Before she entered into the Royal Family, the Duchess of Sussex ran a popular lifestyle blog, posting her favourite recipes, fun photos and her inner-most thoughts.

Meghan's passion project, named after favourite wine Tignanello, transformed into a large community of like-minded people who read her thoughts on feminism, travel, the arts, design and wellness.

In some of her most memorable posts, Meghan opened up about her younger years before she shot to international fame - and in another she made a confession about struggling to give up "unladylike habits".

In a twist of a fate, Meghan also blogged about the Prince and Princess of Wales' wedding, writing about "the pomp" surrounding William and Kate's big day - seven years before her own royal wedding.

However, it all came to an upsetting end in 2017 just before Meghan committed her life to Harry.

Meghan left a tear-jerking final post, which is the only one currently remaining on the site, titled "Farewell, Darling".

Addressed to "all my Tig friends", it reads: "After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it's time to say goodbye to The Tig.

"What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity. You've made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy.

"Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being 'the change you wish to see in the world.'

"Above all, don't ever forget your worth - as I've told you time and time again: you, my sweet friend, you are enough."

Meghan ended her statement with the words: "Thank you for everything. Xx"

So why did Meghan decide to shut down her successful blog?

The former Suits actress reportedly deleted The Tig to minimize the level of media scrutiny ahead of her wedding to Harry in 2018.

It was believed a self-written blog was likely to only exacerbate attention and she allegedly feared that The Tig would be exploited, according to Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand in Finding Freedom.

"It wasn't so much that her blog was criticized as it was used to fuel false speculation about her personal life with the prince," they wrote.

"If she and Harry weren’t seen in three days, someone at a gossip blog would pull up her recipe for acai bowls and write a story that that was what she was serving her new man.

"Or her post about the benefits of green juice: Was this the diet she was making Harry follow?"

After five years, it now seems that The Tig is making a sensational comeback.

Meghan has received official preliminary approval to revive the website - and is ready to take on Gwyneth Paltrow's £200million Goop.

Details filed with the US Trademark and Patent Office outline that Meghan could also take on an agony aunt role on the site.

Despite notable tensions between Meghan, her dad, sister and the Royal Family, her site would dole out "commentary in the field of personal relationships", papers state.

The website, set to go live as soon as next week, could become the latest money-making venture for the Duke and Duchess after they were cut off from royal funds.

Insiders say Meghan hopes to rival Gwynnie’s mega-successful site, which does a lucrative trade in New Age wellness luxuries such as vagina-scented candles.

Meghan will be looking to post more of her recipes, tips, hacks and thoughts on the comeback site when it relaunches.

It comes after it was revealed Meghan will supply one of her recipes to a new charity cookbook aimed to raise money for victims of natural disasters.

The World Central Kitchen Cookbook has been created by Spanish chef Jose Andres, who also started the not-for-profit organisation, World Central Kitchen (WCK).

WCK provides meals to those in need following natural disasters, with Andres founding the charity in 2010 after the Haiti earthquake.

Meghan is set to contribute a lemon olive oil cake recipe to the book.

The news was confirmed in a post on their Archewell website, which read: "This weekend, longtime friend and partner of The Archewell Foundation, Chef Jose Andres announced the upcoming release of 'The World Central Kitchen Cookbook: Feeding Humanity, Feeding Hope.'

"The cookbook is a captivating collection of stories and recipes from renowned chefs, local cooks, and friends of the global nonprofit, which feeds communities impacted by natural disasters and humanitarian crises.

"All author proceeds will support WCK’s emergency response efforts, and Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex is proud to have contributed a recipe.

"In March 2021, The Duchess sent a Lemon Olive Oil cake, which is included in the book, to a group of female restaurateurs who partnered with WCK to provide meals to their community during the pandemic."
