People in Stapleford are upset that a nice park is being left covered in litter. The Queen Elizabeth II Park, on Toton Lane, in Stapleford, is reported to have issues with rubbish being left on it, although one person raised the idea that an animal may be behind it.
According to reports in a local community group on social media, rubbish was left in the park around the bins. People said this is a daily thing and ‘all sorts’ can be found.
Park goers in Stapleford told Nottinghamshire Live that they think it’s horrible that the park is left in that way. Nearby resident Rumi Noor. 32, visits the park with her children, she told Nottinghamshire Live that the park is often untidy thanks to the rubbish.

The mother of two said: “My daughter has just told me there’s loads of bins but rubbish has been left out- my four year old has just told me that.
“It’s not the first time, it's always. You can’t miss it - there’s all sorts, crisp packets, drinks. It’s a shame because it’s for kids to play. There’s always just a group of people - it’s horrible. It’s not nice, it's horrible. You see the bins and they're just a walk away.”
John Baker, from Stapleford, said that it’s disappointing to see the rubbish in the nice park. The 68-year-old said: “I do notice it sometimes, and it’s not nice. It’s not what you want to see. It’s a nice park and it’s a let down for people to leave their rubbish all over it. It’s so easy to put it in the bins, I don’t understand it.”
Valerie and Kevin Meakin often visit the park with their dog Archie, they told Nottinghamshire Live that the park is actually well kept. Valerie Meakin, 68, said: “It's not too bad, the park keeper keeps it tidy. We thought it had been the foxes.”
Kevin added: “We have never actually seen anything - they do keep on top of it.”
Independent Councillor Richard MacRae said: “I’ve seen the stuff on social media, all the parks have plenty of bins - all the parks in Broxtowe. Majority of people use them, it’s a minority that don’t. Just put it in the bin, it's not hard.
“For some people it’s only a little thing when there’s litter thrown on the floor but when you look at the whole borough and people are picking up everyday after other people, there’s a cost to that and that’s a lot of money that can be used on something better.
“Have a bit more pride in where you live and have a bit more pride in the parks because the council do their bit, you can’t have someone in the park everyday making sure people are putting their rubbish in the bin.
“At the same time if people do know a certain time in the day contact the Broxtowe Borough Council and they can target that area. At the end of the day love where you live, have a bit of pride where you live. The bins do get emptied just put your rubbish in the bins it’s that simple.”
