Ian Wright and Roy Keane have both praised Arsenal's Gabriel Jesus and Chelsea's Raheem Sterling but believe that Man City have 'upgraded' after selling the duo this summer.
City generated nearly £100million from the sales of both their attackers who have started their London life well. Jesus has been on fire since his £45million move was confirmed. He has already scored seven goals in pre-season including his hat-trick in the Emirates Cup win against Sevilla on Saturday. Sterling has already shown the quality upgrade he has brought to the Chelsea squad, looking the most lively in the attack over his short time at the club.
Despite the Blues' problems still being evident for all to see up top, the 27-year-old has looked the brightest spark and has capped off his impressive Chelsea start with a much-deserved goal in the most recent pre-season victory over Udinese on Friday night. City have spent the £100million generated from the pair on Erling Haaland and Kelvin Phillips so far. They could even be about to sign Brighton's Marc Cucurella after the Spaniard handed in a transfer request in a bid to force through a move.

But in City's attack still, they possess the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish to provide the depth that hasn't been affected too severely with the departures of Sterling and Jesus respectively. Despite both Wright and Keane praising the quality of the new Arsenal and Chelsea recruits, the pair believe City will not be affected by those big money decisions.
"Those players who’ve left Gabriel Jesus was ready to go and be a main player somewhere, he’d been a bit-part player for City for years," Wright kicked off the conversation on ITV. "We see something of him, what he’s capable of doing, we’ve seen it with Sterling, the goals.
"But Man City are able to pass those players on whether it’s Chelsea, a direct competitor, or Arsenal - who are trying to be a direct competitor - because they’re not worried about what they can do, they’re looking at what they’ve done. They've upgraded massively."
Keane then added: "I wouldn’t doubt Pep’s opinion, he watches the players closely, you’ve got to move on, they’ve got good money for these players who were brilliant players for City. Jesus done well for a few months and Sterling’s stats were fantastic but with Haaland coming in, Pep’s probably thinking I want to keep a hungry squad and that’s the name of the game.
"At this moment in time, with the money they got for them players they don’t see them as a threat. The worry at the moment is keeping ahead of Liverpool because Man City and Liverpool are so far ahead of the other teams they don’t need to gamble."
