The No. 1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs (4-0) will travel to The Plains to take on the Auburn Tigers (3-1) on Saturday in the latest edition of ‘The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry’.
The Bulldogs are far from healthy entering their first road test of the season.
Buy Bulldogs TicketsStar wide receiver Ladd McConkey (back) has yet to take a snap this season, but he did return to practice this week. Running backs Kendall Milton (MCL) and Roderick Robinson (ankle) missed last week’s matchup versus UAB.
Starting safety Javon Bullard is working his way back from an ankle sprain suffered in Week 2. Starting defensive end Mykel Williams missed last week due to illness.
Multiple other Bulldogs are still working their way back from preexisting injuries.
Here’s our updated Georgia injury report, including recent quotes from head coach Kirby Smart:
RB Kendall Milton
Injury: Knee (MCL)
Status: Questionable
Milton, who had been nursing a hamstring injury, exited the South Carolina game with an MCL strain and did not return. He also missed last week’s matchup versus UAB.
Kirby Smart: “Kendall was able to go some today (Tuesday) and did some stuff. I saw him out there. I didn’t get to see how much he did or how he looked doing it. I’ll evaluate that on tape, but he was able to take reps and go, cut and do some things.”
DB Javon Bullard
Injury: Ankle
Status: Questionable
Bullard left the game with an ankle injury against Ball State and did not return. The starting safety missed both the South Carolina and UAB games. Considering Bullard’s importance and the nature of the injury, he will be on a snap count against the Tigers at best.
Kirby Smart:”Javon was able to do more today (Tuesday), probably the best he had. Ran on the side, did some scout period stuff, not good on good.”
WR Ladd McConkey
Injury: Back
Status: Questionable
McConkey is dealing with a back injury that has bothered him dating to last season. The leading returning wide receiver has yet to take a snap this season. McConkey returned to practice in a limited capacity this week after being “shut down” for two weeks to heal.
Kirby Smart: “Don’t know. he did some things today (Tuesday). Got to practice. Didn’t do much Monday. he ran routes, caught balls. Today he got in practice. Going to go watch the tape of the periods I didn’t see him. Not trying to rush him back whether it’s this week in a role or in the future.”
DE Mykel Williams
Injury: Illness
Status: Questionable
Williams missed the UAB game due to an undisclosed illness. He’s not 100% headed into the Auburn matchup.
Kirby Smart: “Mykel did some exercise today (Tuesday) and felt better. Hoping he’ll be able to go, but don’t know that yet. We’ll probably know more tomorrow.”
OT Austin Blaske
Injury: Knee (MCL)
Status: Questionable
Blaske is dealing with an MCL strain he suffered in fall camp. While he dressed last week versus UAB, he has yet to play a snap this season.
RB Roderick Robinson
Injury: Ankle
Status: Doubtful
Robinson left the South Carolina game after one carry due to an ankle injury and did not return. He also missed the UAB matchup and is likely a scratch for Saturday.
Kirby Smart: “Roderick hasn’t gone much. He’s been in the training room dealing with the high ankle.”
DL Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins
Injury: Foot
Status: Out
Ingram-Dawkins was expected to be back on the field already after going down with a foot injury after Week 1. He has been in a walking-boot since then.
DawgsCentral reported that he underwent foot surgery in Week 4, and his timetable for return is unknown.
Kirby Smart: “…Don’t expect him back this week.”
OL Amarius Mims
Injury: Ankle
Status: Out
Mims will miss extensive time due to an ankle injury suffered against South Carolina. The injury required tight rope surgery, and his timetable for return is unknown.
TE Pearce Spurlin
Injury: Undisclosed
Status: Out
Spurlin is sidelined with an unknown injury. The freshman tight end broke his collarbone in spring practices, but was cleared to play in fall camp. He played in Georgia’s first two games, recording a catch in the season opener against UT Martin.
Kirby Smart last week: “(I) don’t know when we’ll get Pearce back.”
TE Lawson Luckie
Injury: Ankle
Status: Out
Luckie underwent tight rope surgery before the season began due to a foot injury suffered in fall camp. Similarly to Mims, the timetable for his return is unknown.
RB Branson Robinson
Injury: Knee
Status: Out for season
Robinson will miss the 2023 season due to a torn patella tendon suffered in fall camp.
