POLICE have concluded a Facebook video by a Glasgow councillor is not a hate crime.
Thomas Kerr, Reform UK councillor for Shettleston, was reported to police after he made comments about the safety of women in the city centre and immigrants.
He said in the video that foreign nationals should be deported if found to be stalking women in Glasgow.
In the post he was “absolutely fizzing” about an article he had read about women being scared to be out in Glasgow city centre.
Kerr has said there are “so many women in this country who are scared” and said he is “petrified” when either his younger sister or fiancée is out in Glasgow City centre.
He then said: “Let me be very, very clear, any foreign national or immigrant or asylum seeker who stalks, abuses or physically puts a woman in scared of their safety should be kicked out of this country.
“No ifs, no buts. Final and that’s it.”
Police Scotland has provided an update on the report it received.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The information received has been assessed and no further police action requires to be taken.”
Following the report, Councillor Kerr said the report was a total waste of Police time, money and resources.
He said: "I'll never apologise for standing up for women's safety and saying what needs to be said for the people of my city."
Councillor Kerr said: "There was never any doubt that Police Scotland would clear me on this ridiculous claim.
"Allan Casey and the SNP's attempt to silence me reeks of utter desperation.
"This has been an enormous waste of time, money and resources.
"As I said last week, I won't ever apologise for standing up for women's safety and our city."
