After missing the postseason following a loss to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference play-in finale, the Chicago Bulls have a busy offseason ahead.
One of their many decisions to make will be on guard Coby White, who hits restricted free agency this summer.
For White, he hopes to return to the Windy City on a new deal.
“It’s new for me, being a restricted free agent. I hope it works out for the best. I love Chicago. I love my teammates. I love the front office,” White said. “So I would like to be back, but a lot of that is out of my control.”
The Bulls have a number of decisions to make regarding their backcourt this summer. Alongside White, veteran Patrick Beverley will also be a free agent. With the uncertainty of Lonzo Ball’s future, a more permanent, long-term fit at point guard may be needed for the Bulls.
White was subject to trade rumors over the last two seasons but never ended up getting dealt at the deadline or in the offseason.
“It’s a business, at the end of the day. I understand decisions have to be made. So, if I’m back, great. But, if I’m not, you got to live with it.”
In 74 games this season, White averaged a career-low 9.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game on 37% shooting from 3-point range.
