Emergency services have rushed to a crash on the A92 with 'up to 15 cars' understood to be involved in the smash.
The road near the Bridge of Muchalls is currently closed at Walker Drive, Muchalls, Newtonhill, following the incident around 12.40pm on Friday.
Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service are all in attendance.
It is not yet known if anyone has been injured in the crash.
Locals reported seeing around 15 cars involved in the incident as they described the incident as "horrendous".
One said: "We passed 15 cars absolutely horrendous, my thoughts are with everyone involved lots of ambulance police and firefighters working. So so sad."
Another added: "Yup easily 15+ cars spread out. Looked to just be minor injuries though."
And a third person said: "I’ve not long passed this it was horrendous and shocking never seen anything like it before, hope there is no serious injuries to anyone x"
Police confirmed they were called to reports of a crash involving a number of vehicles shortly before 1pm.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.40pm on Friday, 24 March, 2023 we were called to reports of a crash involving a number of vehicles on the A92 at Walker Drive, Muchalls, Newtonhill.
"Officers are at the scene and the road is closed."
