Kanpur: The skeleton of a 32-year-old woman, who had gone missing since June 24, was recovered late Saturday night following excavation inside the Officers Club premises on VIP Road in Kanpur, police said on Sunday.
The gym trainer, who was accused of kidnapping the woman, was arrested by the Kotwali police in connection with the case.
According to the reports, businessman Rahul Gupta, who lives in Civil Lines, had lodged a report in the police station that his wife Ekta Gupta is missing since June 24. According to the businessman, she had gone to the gym located near Green Park on that day.
Mr Gupta had suspected that gym trainer, identified as Vimal Soni, had kidnapped his wife. He said the gym trainer had given his wife a protein shake laced with sedatives and then kidnapped her.

Cash and jewellery
Mr Gupta suspected that her wife could be killed because of cash and jewellery worth Rs lakhs which she was taken with her before her disapperence.
The accused Vimal Soni has allegedky confessed during questioning by the police that he had buried the body of the woman.
Later, the police dugged the spot and recoverd the skeleton of the woman. The skeleton was sent for post-mortem after forensic examination.

According to reports, she had gone to the gym after 20 days on June 24. An argument was broken out between the gym-trainer and the woman while they were in the car. During the quarrel, he allegedly punched her in the neck, following which she fainted. He then allegedly murdered her.
Police said they were investigating the matter from all angles.
