Kasganj: There seems to be a massive blow to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's government scheme to make the state tuberculosis (TB) free before 2025.
In the District hospital in Kasganj, TB medicines worth lakhs of rupees to be distrbuted free of cost to poor patients, were dumped in garbage and set on fire.
The District Magistrate has oredered an enquiry into the matter.
As per Dynamite News correspondent, bulk of TB medicines including capsules, multivitamin tablets and injections were thrown into garbage and then set on fire. He added that on the alleged instructions of some officers, the safai karamchaaris and guards who destroyed these medicines in fire.
Dynamite News correspondent further reported that these medicines were given to the safai karamchaaris and guards by the District Treatment Supervisor (DTS) to set on fire. Along with medicines, many records and data were also handed over to them by DTS to destroy.
However, District Treatment Supervisor of TB Hospital Sourav claimed that only empty boxes and viles of medicines were given to dump and not the medicines.
District Planning Officer Dharmendra visited the hospital to take the first hand information. He said that after the enquiry he would submit the report to the higher authorities.
Kasganj District Magistrate Harshita Mathur told Dynamite News that she had talked to Superintendent of TB Hospital CL Yadav and had asked him to submit the report immediately after proper investigation. She said that action would be taken against the culprits after the report.
