Gorakhpur: A suspended constable attacked Doctor Anuj Sarkari with a hammer in his chamber, leaving him severely injured. Currently, he is being treated for the injury.
After the doctor was attacked with a hammer inside the hospital, an atmosphere of terror has gripped the city.
This incident has been widely condemned and the Indian Medical Association (IMA) even declared a strike from 6 am on Saturday.

However, following the administration's request, the strike has been postponed.
The administration swung into action and immediately searched for the accused, arrested him and sent him to jail.
The accused has been identified as suspended constable Pradeep Kumar. He was arrested late Friday night, according to the police.
IMA secretary Amith Mishra said they postponed the proposed strike and future course of action would be taken in a meeting scheduled for Saturday.

When Dr Sarkari called the police by dialing 112, the police threatened to take action against him.
IMA has strongly condemned the incident and also sought the suspension of the entire Cantt police station and stringent action against the attacker.
