Amidst allegations by the Samajwadi Party that police were preventing voters from casting votes in some booths, the Suar seat recorded 41.78% polling while Chhanbey recorded 39.51 per cent till 5 pm for the assembly bypolls in Uttar Pradesh.
Voting started at 7 a.m. and will continue till 6 p.m.
The Samajwadi Party, in a release, said that on the instructions of party president Akhilesh Yadav, a letter has been sent to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), New Delhi asking it to take cognizance of the complaints of rigging and intimidation of voters and booth capturing by the ruling party in the by-election in two assembly constituencies and take immediate action.
