Joel Matip’s brother has taken aim at UEFA after he was forced to flee the Stade de France following crowd congestion outside and claimed tear gas was used as he waited to enter the ground.
Liverpool fans have been caught up in ugly scenes outside the Stade de France ahead of tonight’s game against Real Madrid. Many of which started in the early evening.
The kick-off for the game was delayed with thousands of seats empty in the Liverpool end of the ground. A UEFA message inside the ground said the kick-off had been delayed due to the 'late arrival of fans at the stadium'.

And reports from Germany claimed that Matip’s brother, Marvin, had to flee with his family while they tried to gain access in the stadium. The report further claimed that Marvin’s family, which included his pregnant wife, had to take refuge in a restaurant.
While speaking to a German reporter, Marvin took aim at UEFA, he said: “The organisation around and in the stadium is unworthy of a Champions League final! Using tear gas in areas with children and uninvolved fans is dangerous!“
Former Liverpool CEO Peter Moore has also taken aim at the 'late arrival of fans' line that UEFA used when announcing the game had been delayed.
He said: "Disgraceful scenes outside the stadium. 'Late arrival of fans' should read 'horrendous organization'. Fans have been here for hours. Stadium operations incapable of managing flow and access. Victim blaming at its very best…"
