The story of Samudra Manthan is full of powerful gods, demons, magical treasures and important lessons. But there is one character who played a major role without getting as much attention as others. His name was Vasuki. Vasuki was a huge and powerful serpent who became the rope used to churn the ocean of milk. The Devas and Asuras pulled his body from both sides to move Mount Mandara and complete the churning. It was not an easy task for Vasuki. He had to go through great pain and exhaustion. His story becomes even more interesting because of his close connection with Lord Shiva.
