Unvaccinated Fort Wayne Zoo Visitors Face 21-Day Measles Quarantine After Sept. 27 Exposure as Northeast Indiana Cases Rise

People who visited the Fort Wayne Zoo on Sunday, Sept. 27, between 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. may have been exposed to measles, the Allen County Department of Health said on Sept. 30. Anyone who is not vaccinated against measles is being asked to quarantine for 21 days after the exposure and talk with a doctor about vaccination.

The warning comes during a busy stretch for measles in northeast Indiana. DeKalb and LaGrange counties each reported a case this week, according to 21Alive, bringing the region to six cases since the virus first appeared in Adams County on Sept. 22. Health officials have not publicly identified the case linked to the zoo exposure.
