Ireland is set for a sudden weather U-turn with tizzying temperatures to jump by 15C in just 24 hours.
Yesterday saw lows of -2C in parts as Ireland battled a week of freezing conditions.
But today, thermometers could read 13C in some areas today in a major jump meaning the big thaw will come with unusual speed.

It comes as the northerly airflow which has dominated Ireland’s weather patterns over the last 10 days loses ground to a push of mild air coming in from the Atlantic.
Met Eireann has forecast unsettled conditions for early next week, with heavy rain and windy weather at times.
Talking about today’s weather, the national forecaster said: “Generally cloudy today with scattered outbreaks of rain, heaviest across southern and western counties, bringing possible spot flooding there. The rain may turn wintry locally early on in the northern half of the country. Becoming much milder than preceding days with afternoon temperatures ranging from 5C to 8C over Ulster and 8C to 12C or 13C further south, in fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds.
“Very mild tonight with widespread showery rain, heaviest across southern and western counties, bringing possible spot flooding. Temperatures not dropping below 10C to 13C in fresh and gusty southerly winds.”
Looking ahead to tomorrow, it continued: “Rather wet and windy with scattered outbreaks of rain, heaviest across southern and western counties with further spot flooding. Mild with highest temperatures of 11C to 13C in fresh to strong south to southwest winds.
“Becoming mostly dry after-dark, though showers will follow in across Atlantic counties. Lowest temperatures of 4C to 7C in moderate to fresh southwest winds, stronger along Atlantic coasts.”
For early next week, it predicted: “Rather windy on Tuesday with sunny spells and showers, most frequent across Atlantic counties, some heavy with hail. Highest temperatures of 7C to 9C in fresh to strong and gusty southwest winds.
“Cold and blustery on Tuesday night with clear spells and showers right across the country, some heavy and of hail. Lowest temperatures of 4C to 6C, with a wind chill factor, in fresh to strong west to southwest winds.
“A breezy day on Wednesday with sunny spells and scattered showers, most of the showers will occur in the morning. Highest temperatures generally ranging 7C to 10C.
“A mostly dry and clear start to Wednesday night with scattered outbreaks of rain spreading from the south and west later on. Overnight lows of 3C to 6C with light to moderate southerly winds.
“Rain clearing to scattered showers and sunny spells on Thursday, with highest temperatures of 10C to 12C, with light to moderate southerly winds backing southwesterly.”
