Marylanders who buy their own health insurance will see unsubsidized premiums rise an average of 14.6% in 2027 after state regulators approved new rates, the Maryland Insurance Administration announced on Sept. 25. The increase affects roughly 274,000 people in the state's individual market, down from 294,000 a year ago.
It is the second straight year of double-digit increases, following a 13.4% hike for 2026, Maryland Matters reported. But the average may not be what any single household pays. Subsidies, age, family size, and plan choice all change the final bill.
