Unseen Sheffield Utd vs Cardiff City moments as Sharp mounts Morison, Leeds Utd man refuses sub and chief's scouting mission

Cardiff City succumbed to a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Sheffield United on Saturday.

The Bluebirds gave a good account of themselves, but ultimately Iliman Ndiaye scored the only goal of the game just after the restart. It's a frustrating loss, but one which Steve Morison said he viewed with pride. Here, we take a look at some of the things which you might have missed during the lively affair at Bramall Lane...

Sharp and Morison's touchline run-in

Billy Sharp was sent to warm up down the touchline by Paul Heckingbottom just before the half-hour mark. He stood up from the bench to great roars from the home supporters, who were welcoming back their hero after a spell out injured.

Morison noticed he was going for a light jog to stretch the legs, but he had to run past Cardiff's dugout to get to the corner in which he wanted to do his stretches. The Bluebirds manager jumped in his way, prompting sharp to jump on Morison's back, piggy-back style.

Supporters reacted to Morison's gamesmanship and made their feelings known, before fourth official Carl Boyeson strode over to separate the two, thinking there was something more sinister at play. But as Sharp jumped down, the pair smiled at each other before the Blades striker ran off. Morison explained to Boyeson that they were friends, stemming from their time together at Leeds United in the 2014/15 season.

Drameh refuses to come off

In the final 15 minutes of the first half it was genuinely painful watching Cody Drameh. He got a bang on the leg when he tried to cross a ball in on the half-four mark and limped for a few minutes thereafter, being crumpling to the ground in a heap.

It looked impossible that he would carry on, with Morison telling Mark McGuinness to warm up as he took his training top off in anticipation of a substitution.

But Drameh was having none of it and refused to be taken off, which was quite bizarre considering he literally couldn't run. It seemed as though the matter would have to be taken out of his hands but he insisted on making it through until half-time. Suffice it to say, he did not re-emerge after the break.

"He just wanted to give it a go, that's the kid he is! He just had a whack on his knee, which he had been dealing with, we had been managing it during the week," Morison said after the match.

"He said to me at half-time it was the best it had felt all week and the first thing that happened was he had a whack on it. We have worked incredibly hard to get people in back in January to change the dynamic of the group, and you lose two of the five with Alfie Doughty and then Cody today, hopefully Cody isn't too bad."

Joe Ralls, who was also substituted at half-time, felt his groin and it was decided he was going to be pulled out of the action with three games coming in quick succession.

Chiefs in the crowd

When this reporter was making a beeline from the press box down to the toilets at half-time, two important figures emerged from the important, leather-clad seats a little further down on the half-way line at Bramall Lane.

Indeed, striding back down to the plush, executive recesses of the stadium were Bluebirds chief executive Ken Choo and Wales manager Rob Page. The pair shook hands has they disappeared down the tunnel for a half-time chinwag.

Page, of course, is a resident of Sheffield and a former Blades player. He will have been an interested onlooker as far as his remit as a Wales manager goes, with all of Rubin Colwill, Mark Harris, Will Vaulks, Adam Davies and Rhys Norrington-Davies in both matchday squads.

Annoyingly for Page, none of them started! Vaulks was introduced at half-time, however, while Colwill had a 30-minute cameo at the end of the match. However, young Oliver Denham, who was recently called up to the Wales Under-21s squad, played the full 90 and did very well on the day. Potentially giving Page food for thought ahead of this summer's schedule...

Ng tries to start an ice hockey fight

It's customary in ice hockey fights that, to get the advantage over your opponent, you pull them down and rag their shirt over their head to stop them moving. It's classic D2: The Mighty Ducks, for Disney fans of a certain age. Well, Perry Ng is clearly a Mighty Ducks fan because he put that to the test at Bramall Lane and his opponent was paralysed by the canny move.

When Ng got caught in a tangle with Blades forward Ndiaye in the box, they managed to wrestle each other off the pitch, behind Dillon Phillips' goal. Ng produced the textbook move of bending Ndiaye over and whipping the player's red and white shirt over his head before walking away victorious.

It really was a thing of beauty, before the referee pulled them aside to calm them down, robbing Ng of his victorious and triumphant celebration.

Burger King dash

And finally... as yours truly dashed for the train at Sheffield, two Cardiff City players were darting inside the station's Burger King for some post-match grub. In fear of getting them into trouble (is Burger King on the permitted foods list at Cardiff City?) their identities shall remain anonymous...
