NEW DELHI: India’s two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen and Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain have been handed tough draws while their male counterparts have a relatively easier passage in the boxing competition in Paris Olympics.
As was the case with her at the two previous World Championships and Hangzhou Asian Games, Nikhat – one of the country’s biggest medal hopes in Paris – was unseeded for the Games in 50kg category due to issues between the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and now suspended International Boxing Association (IBA).
