An unmarked police vehicle responding to an emergency call was involved in a crash with a car.
Police were called to reports of a crash at the junction of Childwall Valley Road and Sarum Road in Belle Vale at around 11.55am today, Tuesday, January 3. Merseyside Police confirmed the police car was in collision with a Mazda.
The woman driver of the Mazda was taken to hospital as a precaution and the driver of the police car was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Police closed Childwall Valley Road following the crash and traffic management system Inrix said there was "heavy traffic" in the area.

Pictures showed both cars with heavy damage and an ambulance at the scene of the crash. Numerous police officers were also in attendance.
Arriva North West diverted bus services 79, 79c and 204. The road has since reopened.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that a police vehicle responding to an emergency was involved in a collision with another vehicle in Belle Valle earlier today, Tuesday, December 3.
"At around 11.55am, a police vehicle collided with a Mazda at the junction of Childwall Valley Road and Sarum Road. The female driver of the Mazda was taken to hospital as a precaution and the driver of the police vehicle was treated at the scene for minor injuries."
