Unlucky tourist regrets harassing giant bison at Yellowstone

American bison in field.

Bison are responsible for more injuries to people than any other animal at Yellowstone National Park, including wolves and bears, but for some reason visitors consistently underestimate the power of these huge, powerful creatures. Perhaps it's their passing similarity to domestic cattle, or maybe it's their thick fur, but some tourists just can't resist trying to snap a close-up photo or even pet them.

This isn't a new phenomenon, though. A vintage video clip (presumably shot on a camcorder) is currently circulating on social media showing a visitor attempting exactly the same thing back in the 1980s.
