Best Seller Turns to One Man Show
Actor and best-selling author Rob Lowe, who wrote “Stories I Only Tell My Friends,” and “Love Life,” has taken to the stage to recount his literary collection of anecdotes live. Since the actor has been in the public eye since the 1980’s, Lowe has starred in movies like “The Outsiders”, “Wayne’s World,” “Tommy Boy,” “Austin Powers,” and TV shows like “Parks and Rec” and the “The West Wing.”
What could be more entertaining than enjoying a beverage of choice, sitting in a dark theater listening to tales of a star who barely can believe they happened himself. Lowe says, “I am a survivor of the ‘80’s.” He claims he lived through the most fun decade in history. Obviously, that would be up for debate from others, but even so he is prepared to share his stories live in front of an audience.
The two-night show June 9-10 is at The Venetian Las Vegas and starts at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster starting around $73 each, before service and order processing fees.
Lowe is giving audiences the ability to see what happens off screen around Hollywood with fame, fatherhood and in marriage. Lowe, who was a member of Hollywood's Brat Pack in the 80s, has been able to stay married to one person for over three decades, when other Hollywood marriages may last less than a year.
Lowe Off Camera
“I wrote two bestselling books of stories, which were a hybrid of a traditional autobiography and a collection of essays. And I enjoyed it so much, this is the next iteration of what I’ve realized is my favorite thing to do, which is share stories of my experiences in my life and in Hollywood, and my life as a father and husband,” said Lowe. He likened his stories being told on stage as sitting around a campfire with friends and recounting the old time.
Lowe claims that if he could go back and relive any time in the past, he would return to the 80s according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. His claim that no one had more fun than what he had during that time. Other industries and buying in and selling the 80's nostalgia, as Universal Studios, just made over $1 billion bringing life to the video game "Mario Brothers" more than 30 years after it was brought to the public on an 'old school' Nintendo. People are paying money to relive and recount the good days, which happen to be the 80s now for many people, Gen X and even some Millennials.
