University severs ties with George Mitchell over Epstein links

George Mitchell University Jeffrey Epstein United States Queen University Queen University Belfast

Queen’s University Belfast is to remove the name of George Mitchell, a key architect of the Good Friday Agreement, from a peace centre due to his links with disgraced paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

A bust of the former US senator will also be removed from the university grounds. Mr Mitchell chaired the 1998 peace agreement negotiations and served as the university's chancellor from 1999 to 2009.
