University of Sunderland 'working closely to assist police' in hunt for wanted student

University students have been encouraged to contact Northumbria Police if wanted man Alexander Carr gets in touch.

Carr, a student at the University of Sunderland, is being sought by police in connection with the murder of Michelle Hanson, 47, in her Sunderland flat on Brady Street on December 2. The 32-year-old has so far evaded police and on Sunday morning, CCTV footage of Carr boarding a bus in Sunderland on December 3 and a photograph of him in a shop were released by Northumbria Police.

Carr is from Sunderland but has links to London and some areas of Northumberland, while he is also known to visit Newcastle and North Tyneside. He is believed to be actively evading arrest and a number of searches have been carried out in a bid to find him.
