University of St Andrews students took part in the pier walk (University of St Andrews/PA) -

Hundreds of students at the University of St Andrews have taken part in the traditional walk to the end of the pier ahead of the start of the new academic year.

Wearing their distinctive red gowns, the students strolled to the end of the pier, climbed up the ladder and then walked back along the highest part of the wall.
